20 years ago today was my last show. Dont feel the need to
listen; its 93 for crying outloud. OK, give it a spin :P
I did have the luck to have Bruce in almost every show I saw. Just worked out that way...aint nostagia a bitch?
Broken Arrow and Wave to the Wind where perfectly placed
go-take-a-piss song.

Of course I mostly listen to the AUDs of attended shows:
http://archive.org/details/gd1993-03-18.fob.schoeps.byron.dauria.106322.flac16
I rememeber the crowd singing along to TMNS the best~~

What was your last GD show? Or if someone can point me in to the thread that has already has this info? Im sure there will be some Kock bashing (not in the good way) involved. To be expected unfortunanly.
But feel free to share. I know I did.

Time for some bitter-sweet chocolates...

edit~ you can tell by the 'animals' in the aud, that
BRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCE dint come out til the 2nd set.

First one 12/31/1980, first song was Dire Wolf, less than three weeks after John Lennons death. Don't murder me, I beg of you don't murder me!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0UhURwSSrY

about 200 shows later...

Last one was one day before my 34th birthday, 5/29/95, last song was Liberty, with Bobby's infamous shout out to Lon Mabon as an intro.

Desert Sky Pavilion, Phoenix AZ, 03/06/1994

Left the show thinking "This is not going to end well".

Kind of went into a Dead-Free period following that experience. Didn't fully re-energize until I stumbled on this place later on. Many thanks to the old-timers still here.

Luck? I saw plenty of shows with Bruce and enjoyed many of them, but in my opinion he was never a good fit for the band. It's my feeling that Bruce mostly took up musical space that would have otherwise been occupied by Garcia's guitar. His arrival cluttered the stage and delayed Vince's development as the band's primary keyboard player.

Just my two cents.

I dont know why does...
It just didnt mesh with the GD for me. I will agree that
it got better as Phil made it his own (P&F). Its not a horrible song, but you wont find me going out of my way to
play it is all. I hope you get your miracle T Corey ;)

As mentioned here several times, last show was on my birthday 5/21/95' Vegas.

Dave Mathews band was great opener that weekend.

Unbroken was the Highlight of the day.

Liberty as the last song I ever heard Jerry play was the low point.

(As I place it on the tee...) Why don't you like Liberty? It was my last GD tune as well {Highgate '95} and I'm thankful it wasn't something like IFTL, LITSWD or some other dreck. Liberty is a catchy little tune w/ yummy libertarian lyrics.

SO nice to hear a decent tape of this show!
The one I have was poor audience quality but was glad to have it.
This was mine as well as many others LAST GD show but on top of it it was my birthday! A great weekend of fun as Friday was my brothers birthday and Saturday was my best friends and we are all Huge Heads.

The First set was nice but the second was a real gift! Especially after I got a back stage pass during the break! No I didn't get to hang with the Boys but I still have the pass and it says "Paid in Full" .

I believe the second set was smokin start to finish even with Corina which isn't one of my favs and Liberty which can Quack like a duck-lol.
((((((((((((Another duck reference))))))))))

The Unbroken was a sign of things to come for my love of P&F's and the Eyes sparkled and shined.

Excuse my long windedness but I wax nostalgic for the Days that Lie between.
The Other ONE-buscameby

Even strat gave that 95 show a thumbs up.

And to snow_and_rain~
I will totally agree that BH could be
a bit ham-handed and egotistical (musically and personally).
He did "cover" for Jerry and Vince on more than one occasion
you could say, and not in a good way all the time, but I
will say that I witnessed him pull Jerry out of whatever
funk he was into at the time more often than not.
And I just find serendipitous that he seemed to be at 90%
of the shows I went to. And I like Bruce~ Beats the same
keyboard-sax riff that Vince played every time during Est
Proph. Uhg.
Just consider one of your 2 cents back =)

Walking to New Orleans my oh my
Hey, now, Bird, wouldn't you rather die
Than walk this world when you're born to fly?

If I was the sun, I'd look for shade
If I was a bed, I would stay unmade
If I was a river I'd run uphill
If you call me you know I will
If you call me you know I will

Ooo, freedom
Ooo, liberty
Ooo, leave me alone
To find my own way home
To find my own way home

Say what I mean and I don't give a damn
I do believe and I am who I am
Hey now Mama come and take my hand
Whole lotta shakin' all over this land

If I was an eagle I'd dress like a duck
Crawl like a lizard and honk like a truck
If I get a notion I'll climb this tree
or chop it down and you can't stop me
Chop it down and you can't stop me

Ooo, freedom
Ooo, liberty
Ooo, leave me alone
To find my own way home
To find my own way home

Went to the well but the water was dry
Dipped my bucket in the clear blue sky
Looked in the bottom and what did I see?
The whole damned world looking back at me

If I was a bottle I'd spill for love
Sake of mercy I'd kill for love
If I was a liar I'd lie for love
Sake of my baby I'd die for love
Sake of my baby I'd die for love

Ooo, freedom
Ooo, liberty
Ooo, leave me alone
To find my own way home
To find my own way home
I'm gonna find my own way home

"Wake up to find out you are the Eyes of the World" in caparison is also a little drively.

I actually thought it was an ok tune except "quack like a duck" which was to much like " bigger than a dive in movie ouuuuu eeeeeeeeeeeee"

And not what I wanted for my LAST SONG. Box o rain would have felt better or even a sweet "Broke Down".

12/3/92

The night before, the encore was Box of Rain. That would have been a fitting last tune; as it turned out, my last encore was Gloria, and the show closed with TOO > Morning Dew. Also fitting.

I just found my whole Last Show on YouTube. To me now the keys are grating, but honestly at the time I was just happy to see the band. These were kind of "comeback" shows for Jerry after they had to cancel the fall run.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4raP3Kk4RI

Btw my kid just walked up behind me while I was watching a bit of that and what he said was, "Wow, Jerry looks old."

Yup.

Well, then you'll appreciate this. I was playing that LRR, and right on cue, on the line "dogs begin to bark now, hounds begin to howl," all the dogs in the 'hood began to bark and howl at full choral volume. Mine included. They kept it up throughout. It really does add an extra element.

HAha! You and the crowd made that happen.
Excellent side note. Hows them doggies doing anyhoo?

Maybe they were just howling in protest to the ensuing slide solo. The LRR (not to be confused with LLR, heavens no), reminds me of Brents early 'tinkling' organ (no not that one) solos when he was just a few years in the band. Then Vince switches after a few bars to the Hammond. Vince really did well as far as the LLR solos went. I do miss Brents enthusiastic cursing though, and Bobby?~ Cats in a blender.

Interesting last show of yours: After the LRR, the Sweet
Jane is kinda plain. The Ramble On~ Jerry kinda got it back to normal... kind of a carnival sounding one. The Cassidy was pretty tame and the Dough Knees was phoned in, but Vince stood out in that one too.

Enjoyed the MIDI flute on PITB and a nice EYES. Corrina=
bathroom break. Decent Terrapin and another typical D/S.
The TOO was quite odd to me. Wonder if Healy was messing with Bobby still. I love to hear the opening notes to Morning Dew. It was not too good, not too bad, just meaningful as hell per usual. And the last song Gloria?

You poor thing. Right up there with my IFTL: not very memorable, which is a sucky way to go out. But the traveling always beats the destination anyway, right?

That was my last show with my lil brother, he moved to Iowa and never saw anymore GD shows. He should have been with us in Vegas for our birthday weekend but his wife was 8.5 months pregnant and he thought it would be marital suicide-lol.

Now he travels to see Furthur. go figure.

(and thanks for the youtube reference--a hard show but nostalgic. Bobby was so sick but was one of the last returns of Jerry after he went down.)
